Chicken tamales have been part of Mexican culture and cuisine for centuries, and the exact origin is uncertain. It is believed that tamales first appeared as early as 5000 BC but did not become popular until the 1700s. The Aztecs and Mayans used corn to make tamales, often stuffing them with meat, vegetables, and even fruit.

Today, chicken tamales are a popular dish found in restaurants and homes alike. To make them, you need to start with a corn masa dough made with lard or oil, chicken broth, and salt. Precooked chicken is then added to the masa and mixed together. The mixture is spread into a corn husk and wrapped tight to form an envelope, and then steamed until the dough is cooked through.

When making chicken tamales, it is important to use a good-quality masa dough that is evenly mixed to prevent any lumps, and to let it sit for a few minutes before adding the chicken for a more uniform consistency in the filling. Additionally, be sure to wrap the tamales tightly so the ingredients can cook together evenly. It’s also helpful to soak the corn husks in warm water beforehand to make wrapping easier. Finally, make sure to steam them for the recommended time to make sure they are fully cooked.

With these tips, you can easily make delicious chicken tamales to enjoy.
